Life on Autopilot

Have you ever been so driven that it’s as if you become on autopilot? I say it this way because even when you’re focused, goal setting and making every effort to get there, have you ever found you’ve missed a lot more than you realized in so many ways? I find it can be applied to many parts of your life, no matter how outspoken you might be or how closed off you might be. Tunnel vision if you will basically shows that even when you think you’ve branched off in many different directions, it does not change the fact that you are only seeing in a straight line and everything around is blurred. You are aware most times of that which surrounds you, but unless it directly affects you its significance is greatly reduced. To me that can be taken two ways, one it could be your personal defenses keeping you alert to what you need to be and that which has no change if you take notice so as if not to waste your time and energy on.    Why is our focus in one direction ev...

Social Media, Self Worth, & Financial Worth

At a risk of getting negative thoughts upon my writing I have recently realized how bad social media is tearing up anyone in its path. I have always been aware of cyber bullying, cyber terrorism, and the influx of media that can spread so far and wide ultimately bringing either positive energy or very negative. I find it interesting that you can spill your heart out and no one cares or even says a word, but you say something small and insignificant that someone else doesn’t like it becomes a blood bath.    In a recent discovery I am led to think about one popular form of social media that goes along the same lines of a show and a popular shopping site. Basically consists of social popularity tying in with worth whether financial or just social standing. On a show basis you do good things people vote up, you do something stupid your sent into a spiral of voting down which could lead to your death. When your actions are judged by anyone around you basically bei...

A moment to talk to readers and possible future readers…

When I was younger I used to write short stories, poems and writings that seem to be a mash up of both. I may have never been able to write at a college level with proper techniques but I always found reading someone else’s writing if it became too complex it became very boring. Not because I did not understand the material, I did appreciate the effort and complexity involved but I found that through refinement you lose a lot of attention. Why try to write for only one crowd, why not write so others can enjoy and find their own meanings. You should write for yourself and express without critiquing your own work. You end up losing a lot of value in your words once you’ve edited it till every bit of intrigue is now nothing more than scientific data. I understand there may be some out there who enjoy that sort of thing, but here’s a thought.    Say you’ve worked your way up in the world, went from having nothing to have a lot of something, then someone offers yo...

Do you ever reach out just to say something? Do you ever write just to feel something?

What message are you trying to give when you’ve shouted out your opinions? When others have picked at your opinions and your self-worth ends up tied up in all of it. Why are we so emotionally involved when we read or hear views that may or may not be similar to our own? Part of being human is having flaws, and yet we focus more on everyone else’s flaws over our own. If we all spent more time appreciating ourselves maybe then we would get along better. We are out in the world staking our claim on what the world’s biggest problems without solving them; we create more barriers and problems because of short sighted views and no effort to maintain devotion to ourselves.    We feed off the energy of each impact not really learning what we are accomplishing or even lack thereof. We used to be families and now we are just individuals attacking one another for rights and freedoms that they believe in because instead of reaching for the stars and making major differe...

So a little about myself…

I am unique. I say that because my strongest thought growing up was that everyone in the world is different, some lead, some follow, and the ones most people point out, or never notice are the outsiders. Being a bit of a black sheep in my family I knew I had to be a survivor and independent. I then created this opinion of myself that was a never ending goal to be unique. I would often tell my friends throughout childhood, I am just me, Ed. I would coach myself through endless days of depression by telling myself I am unique and although my troubles come in multiples of 3 (often quite hard on impact I might add), I am just me, Ed. You see, I have what they might call Asperger’s syndrome.  Having grown up learning about ADHD and Bi-Polar, then having to come to realization it was a bit more than that. Being socially awkward, rather spending time on my own, and having difficulty communicating with others around me including teachers which often led to struggles within th...

Change. Subconsciously or manipulated?

We all change in various ways, our mind and our bodies being the primary. Now change in terms of our bodies could be through various ways, cosmetic, age, tragedy or life happenings. The change I am here to talk about is of the mind and it's inner workings as we grow, age and develop.    When we are born we first become of aware of our surroundings, we are new and fresh to the elements, the senses awakened and our eyes barely able to input the information, we hear for the first time and it's a sensory overload sending us through panic from our comfort zone, crying until in the hands of our soothing parent or nurturing handler. The first stage of many changes, endless amount of changes on the horizon, what challenges we face next.    We as infants know very little and understand just as much. We are all in fact smart but as our bodies develop we take on new information, grasp our capabilities and learn how to do the very things that make us human....

Here’s a question, here’s a thought…

With all the different ways to communicate to others or simply aloud why non-physical barriers are still the one wall many cannot overcome. We are all able to communicate one way or another thanks to technology but what is really lacking is the understanding on the other side. It can be in many different forms, as simple as how youth see the elderly, majority tend to see them as an obstacle to push aside as it serves them little purpose to communicate with. It used to be as each generation grew, dependence on anyone older become less, now dependence has become renewed in other forms but instead of being dependent on someone for lack of knowledge or ability, it’s become a crutch to remove any ability to stand on your own.    There are rare occasions through upbringing or even situations that lead to a young person becoming connected to an elder, being respectful from an early age, or simply having a desire to learn from those best knowing of information not a...

Do we follow or do we lead?

Why do we follow, instead of lead? What makes a good leader? Why is it that being a follower doesn’t mean you need to be any good at it? Like a manager, a foreman or a supervisor, their crew should be many things to be successful, still follows the same logic. They are paid to follow, but follow they do. So why followers in social stance do followers make for good company, reliable or trustworthy? At least when they are being paid you can tell the good from the bad, and those who want to follow and those who want to kiss up. In a social stance you have two ways to go. One being the trend setter, the gossiper, the one who knows everything you’re looking for. The second one being the salesperson, they got to entertain you with whatever they can do to keep your attention and your following, put suggestions in your mind to keep you around and for the most part serve their followers to keep or grow those followers.    What does it take to be a good follower? Why ...

What is Expression?

What underlines it for each individual and what forms are acceptable by today’s standards vs. what they were 20, 40, 60+ years ago. With each generation is it easier or harder to express? Depends which view point you take.    Is there a formula for how a scenario might reflect a certain opinion, feeling or memory triggered at the time of occurrence? Could it be manipulated to remove a certain feeling or need in a given moment to change how you would react to that scenario? Depends on which view point you take.    What if you could not express physically, would others know how you felt? Words could justify, but what if you couldn’t speak? Could you feel their presence and justify their expression? I believe with any sense known or unknown our invaluable skill to communicate through endless means is nothing short of extraordinary!    Whether your reason of exclusion of ability to express, communicate or emote, the world and its occu...

Life in the shade of today's society and what we've missed

Life is complicated one way or another for every living being in this world, a person such as I can say that a lot goes on that goes unnoticed while sometimes things that do get noticed aren’t recognized by that person. I can say that over periods of time you can adapt and change your world to work in ways you need it to, feeling as though you have grown, accomplished and achieved things only your age would allow. That moment when you feel older yet like your still the person you were years ago. Truth is your experience over time is what brings maturity but your views as you grow from a baby beyond is just the endless wave of learning, at first it seems new and exciting, and then it becomes trivial. So much is taken for granted, and though people are smart enough to know that, they look the other way. You encounter different types of people and though they say its genetics and not upbringing I believe it’s both.     Spending time with my family, watching...
